Airport Day 2017 was held on May 20, 2017 at the Statesboro-Bulloch County Airport. Several community members got together to raise money to cover expenses to enable us to host Airport Day. Any excess monies were donated to local families in need. We would like to applaud Josh Whitfield, of Whitfield Signs, and his team for taking the lead in making Airport Day 2017 successful.
Thanks to teamwork, the open house/Airport Day was enjoyed by all. Our local EAA Chapter 489, MidCoast Aviation Services, The Jumping Place Skydiving Center and local aircraft owners provided static displays. Chris Bohan and Peter Cheney, local pilots, donated flights for the raffle. The Jumping Place donated a skydive. Southeastern Balloon Services donated a hot air balloon ride. Statesboro Golf Carts provided golf carts. Friends and members of the both the Metter and Vidalia EAA Chapters came over and offered support and assistance. Our local Civil Air Patrol provided ground control and security. Members of the Airport Committee assisted throughout. Many Bulloch County employees came out to show support and offer assistance. Josh Whitfield and his staff did such a great job marketing Airport Day that we had a good turnout, and thanks to all the volunteers, donations, and community support everyone enjoyed it and had a great time.
Mr. Glenn Hall took pictures of the event. A few are posted below.
